God Bless the USA

Freedom is a wonderful thing.  In America we can go where we want, when we want and how we want.  You can just hop on a Harley and drive the highways and byways of America – how cool is that!? Even more important, we can be what we want to be – all of this because of freedom.

This Sunday our nation will be celebrating our independence.  There is no better way than to begin that celebration by attending our weekend service at 10 am on Sunday and thanking God for our freedom.  A themed music/multi-media service that honors God and our great nation will make you proud and grateful to be an American.  Come and have your spirits lifted!

Moms are the best!  I say that because my Mom is the best.   When I was just three months old she and my Dad brought me home from The Florida Children’s Home in Jacksonville.  All the way home I cried and cried because of a severe case of Croup, which is scary for parents and no fun for us kids either.   Surely she wondered what in the world have I gotten myself into.  But like a loving Mother she held me, rocked me, said comforting words to me, sang to me, offered me water and food, checked my diaper and probably said to my Dad, “Honey what in the world are we to do? I was struggling with all the issues of graduate school, low funds, hard professors, long papers to write and essay exams that made my hair curl when a few little words of encouragement was shared one day in class that helped turn all of my struggles into exciting challenges. It went something like this:

I can’t wait for Sunday! Palm Sunday is one of the coolest Sundays of the year. All the children are singing and waving palms. It’s like having a parade in church.
2000 years ago Jesus rode into town on a donkey, not a white stallion, but a donkey – go figure. . . (More>>>)

Here’s one for the books.  I said, “Hey, Jenny let’s go 4wheeling in the mountains of Pennsylvania.”  We lived in Ohio at the time and Jenny was something like 8 months pregnant.  Well the story goes we headed to the mountains in our brand new Blazer with sleeping bags in the back for an overnight and a 4wheel adventure on the back logging roads.  I was having a great time, Jenny was being kind.  Up ahead there was a rather large area of water on the right side of the road.  I said, “Watch this dear”!...(More>>>)

Growing up in Florida was a total blast.  We rode our bikes all over our little town of Vero Beach.  We camped out on the beach with bond fires.  At the break of daylight we got our surfboards and paddled out to catch another day of totally hot surf.  On any given Saturday some of us kids would grab a fishing pole and before you knew it we had a string of fish for Mom to cook for supper.  I had a friend who lived on a canal with a Boston Whaler.  After school . . .
